Our visionary team of creatives and healthcare professionals at BTH have been working on a very unique mission trip concept for more than a year and a half, and to see it finally come to life and witness it’s huge impact in real time has been such a humbling and motivating experience. The BTH concept was recently used to kick-off @hospitalpequenoprincipe’s newest program titled “I Semana Da Coluna Pediátrica“ in Curitiba, Brazil! Stay tuned to find out which city we’re bringing our mission trip concept to next!!! 🥰😍💚 In the meantime, here are a few photos of some of the incredible children we helped living with severe scoliosis, including some of the wonderful surgeons involved in our training component. Each surgeon presented incredible cases that everyone was able to learn from.
Early screening, observation, and treatment are known to prevent spinal conditions such as scoliosis and kyphosis from progressing to severity. In many parts of Africa, South America and throughout the Caribbean, however, both awareness and care are scarce for these conditions and as a consequence, they progress until they become extremely dangerous. High magnitudes of spinal curvatures can not only result in significant cosmetic abnormality and impaired posture, but can also compromise the lungs, heart, and spinal cord.
The medical implants and instruments were provided by our friends at @medtronic and @stryker.spine.
