Sheri Melo
- Scoliosis Advocate
“I am a thoughtful, strong and independent woman.”
Sheri Melo has lived most of her life with scoliosis and says the biggest piece of advice she has for her younger self is “listen to your doctors.”
Although Sheri was diagnosed when she was 12, she was recommended to have surgery when she was 18 yrs. old by her medical team. At the time in her life, Sheri did not feel she needed it.
“The most challenging obstacle that I’ve overcome is understanding what I can and cannot do in my daily activities. Knowing when to stop and listening to my body has been hard as I have grown older with scoliosis.”
At this moment in her life, Sheri is proud of being promoted to the position of Assistant Manager at her place of work and loves to spend time with her three Yorkies when she isn’t coloring online or playing bingo. At 43 years old, Sheri has also finally made the decision to undergo spinal fusion.
These photos serve to document the final days leading up to Sheri’s surgery and everyone at Back to Healing is wishing her a speedy recovery!
